Health
Our Health Task Force is committed to improving access to local healthcare system and wellness resources.
OUR GOALS
We serve as catalysts for change—bringing together partners to align around shared goals, coordinate efforts, and implement strategies that drive better health outcomes for all residents.
Our ultimate goal is to improve community health through two key approaches:
- Health Communications/Promotions
We disseminate vital health information, promote healthy behaviors, and raise awareness about health risks and prevention. This helps build connections, empower individuals, and foster a more informed and proactive community. - Removing Barriers to Healthcare Access
We work to identify and address obstacles that prevent people from receiving care, including:- Financial barriers, such as lack of health coverage
- Systemic barriers, including challenges navigating the healthcare system and using technology
- Social barriers, such as language, cultural differences, and health literacy
Together, we’re building a healthier, more equitable New Brunswick.
Key Goals
- Promote Healthy Lifestyles through outreach and education and increased affordable and equitable access to services and programs that support healthy living
- Provide Coordinated Support to Families to encourage long-lasting improvements in health and well-being
- Enhance School-Based Programs that support health and wellness among students, NBPS employees and school families
- Enhance access to services for improving Behavioral Health
- Ensure that all New Brunswick residents live in affordable Safe and Healthy Housing that facilitates healthy living
- Create and maintain healthy Built and Natural Environments to support healthy lifestyles
Our work is designed to increase the quality of a healthy life for everyone. Limited access to health care impacts people’s ability to achieve their full potential. And, although access to both physical and mental health services remains a primary focus of the Health Task Force, improving health outcomes also includes the social determinants of health— access to healthy foods, active living, and housing.
