Jaymie Santiago has been working health and human service issues around the state of New Jersey since 2004; bringing a multitude of experience and successes in every aspect of nonprofit operations, from fund development and personnel management, to the ultimate measure of success: community impact.

As President for New Brunswick Tomorrow – a nonprofit committed to actively raising the quality of life for every resident in the city of New Brunswick, NJ, Jaymie manages a broad range of social service initiatives, catalyzing action on some of the most pressing issues facing the city. In his almost 20 year experience in the social sector, Jaymie shares about the importance of working collectively and strategically; forming a shared vision, focusedon equity and justice, to create meaningful change. As a seasoned Executive, he has strong communications skills, and enjoys helping those who work with him and facilitating their professional development.

Jaymie began his career focused on creating sustainable urban food systems with Rutgers Cooperative Extension. He was instrumental in creating citywide networks of Food Hubs, consisting of farmers markets, small businesses and entrepreneurs, and community gardens. In 2009, Jaymie served on the planning committee that developed the New Brunswick Community Food Alliance. And in 2011, he was the Co-Director of Rutgers Against Hunger, a university-wide initiative offering temporary relief to families facedwith hunger across New Jersey. Jaymie joined New Brunswick Tomorrow (NBT) as the Director of Operations in 2012.

At New Brunswick Tomorrow, he managed the Healthier New Brunswick initiative; designed to improve the overall health of city residents. In this very important role, Jaymie led the effort to enroll hard-to-reach communities into the newly legislated Affordable Care Act healthcare marketplace; resulting in the largest enrollment numbers for black, brown, and immigrant populations in the state of New Jersey. Later, in 2015, he became Vice President for NBT and Co-Director of the New Jersey Partnership for Healthy Kids to develop environmental and policy strategies that prevent childhood obesity. In this role, Jaymie developed a community outreach model focused on advocacy and mobilizing communities into action — still used and replicated today for effective outreach and engagement, particularly with emergency response efforts caused by the pandemic.

And, in July of 2016, Jaymie became President of New Brunswick Tomorrow. Because of his achievements and unique blend of pragmatism and passion, his advice is sought out by many organizations and cities throughout the State of New Jersey, providing thought leadership on tough issues (often on multiple priorities), while also having a pleasant and fun demeanor. Jaymie holds a Master’s degree in Public Affairs and Policy from Rutgers University and a Bachelor’s degree in Arts from Monmouth University.
