NBT Seeks Full-Time Manager of its Homeownership Program

POSITION DESCRIPTION:  

HOMEOWNERSHIP PROGRAM MANAGER

NBT seeks a motivated, talented individual to join our highly effective team as a full-time Manager of its Homeownership Program. S/he will serve as a community change agent to implement strategies to promote and increase homeownership, particularly for low- and moderate-income and immigrant first-time homebuyers in New Brunswick. The position will work as part of NBT’s Neighborhood Development team, under the supervision of the Director of Neighborhood Strategies, as part of a comprehensive vision to ensure safe, quality, and affordable housing in vibrant neighborhoods for all New Brunswick residents.  

Responsibilities

In the context of our current initiatives, the specific responsibilities of the position are as follows:

  1. Serve as project lead of NBT’s strategies to promote first-time homeownership:
  • Plan, manage, and implement all pre-homeownership education activities in both English and Spanish, including financial preparedness workshops and “Club Mi Casa” program  
  • Serve as lead HUD certified housing counselor and provide individual counseling in both English and Spanish to households preparing for homeownership
  • Manage program reporting and HUD compliance
  • Maintain and grow network of community-oriented homeownership professionals in real estate, lending, and related sectors
  • Promote and manage applications for NBT’s downpayment assistance and closing cost assistance program, coordinating with administrative partner
  • Promote and manage applications for NBT’s home repair program, coordinating with program implementation partner
  • Administer sales process for affordable housing units developed by New Brunswick Tomorrow and its sister housing development entity, Hub City Housing
  1. Additional organizational responsibilities:
  • Attend and assist, as necessary, with other programmatic activities, particularly those related to resident and tenant engagement
  • Contribute to the development of an effective NBT team and organization and support our mission, values and growth

Qualifications

  • HUD certified housing counselor, or, if not certified, ability to pass HUD counselor exam and obtain certification within 90 days of hire
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience, preferably with at least one year of program management
  • Familiarity with the New Brunswick community, preferred  
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability of effective record-keeping
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build authentic relationships at the community and institutional level
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills before multiple types of audiences
  • Bilingual English/Spanish, both written and verbal, preferred.

Salary and Benefits

Salary range is $55,000 to $61,000, commensurate with experience. NBT offers a comprehensive benefits package, which includes health, retirement benefits plan and tuition reimbursement.
