NBT Seeks Program Associate for Neighborhood Development

NBT seeks a talented individual to join its highly effective team as a full-time Program Associate for its Neighborhood Development initiatives. The Program Associate will work under the direct supervision of NBT’s Esperanza Neighborhood Project Director to support the Housing and Economic Development objectives with the Esperanza Project and related activities of the Unity Square project (an initiative of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Metuchen), if applicable.

The Program Associate’s primary responsibilities are as follows:

1) Provide programmatic support to the First-Time Home ownership activities of NBT’s Esperanza Neighborhood Project and Unity Square’s Housing Resource Center, including:

  • Coordinate the delivery of housing-related educational seminars and workshops, with partner organizations
  • Conduct outreach, intake and referral of potential first-time homebuyers
  • Track progress of potential homebuyers through our “homebuyer pipeline,” in collaboration with various partner organizations

2) Provide programmatic support to the Tenants’ Rights activities of NBT and Unity Square’s Housing Resource Center, including:

  • Assist in case management and resolution of tenants’ rights cases with Housing Resource Center staff
  • Support housing advocacy campaigns with research and outreach, when applicable

3) Provide Entrepreneur and Small Business Support, including:

  • Coordinate the delivery of entrepreneurship/small business educational workshops and courses
  • Conduct outreach, intake and referral of aspiring and existing small business owners to relevant business resources and opportunities
  • Coordinate participation of entrepreneurs in the Mercado Esperanza, when applicable, including ensuring compliance with all necessary requirements
  • Coordinate and oversee food entrepreneur use of Unity Square community center commercial kitchen, when applicable

4) Provide support to the Esperanza Project, as needed (e.g.resident meetings, community improvement activities, and advocacy campaigns)  

Qualifications:

The candidate must possess the following qualifications:

  • Positive attitude with strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Bilingual English/Spanish,both written and verbal
  • High school diploma
  • Minimum of two (2) years professional or substantial volunteer experience in community engagement, outreach, or related activities
  • Ability to handle multiple projects in a deadline driven environment
  • Computer literacy, especially in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Docs

Compensation: $35,000 annual salary, with comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, retirement plans, tuition reimbursement, and life insurance.
