Make the Season Bright!

As the holidays get nearer and we all start to get caught up in the frenzy of the season, I always like to take time to reflect on how fortunate my family and I have been.

We get to gather around the table filled with all kinds of food. We get to exchange gifts that we carefully selected for one another. We can travel to visit with our family members who don’t live close-by. Sure, there have been years when my funds have been limited, but I’ve never had to forego celebrating the holidays altogether.  I truly am grateful for that.

But for some families, these holiday things aren't happening.  Having the means to buy gifts and cook elaborate meals is just beyond their reach. They struggle every day to do their best for their families. They work two or three jobs just to be able to put a roof over their family’s heads and to provide just the basics.

At New Brunswick Tomorrow, our focus is on how we can help improve the lives of those people who face those struggles every day. We work together with partners from across the city to nurture and support our youth, foster health and well-being for people of all ages and backgrounds, bring people together, strengthen the community’s voice for creating change, and support clean and safe neighborhoods. We believe that every person should have access to healthcare, a good education or job, and a safe and healthy home.

During this season of thanks and of giving, I hope each of you will take a moment to reflect on all you are thankful for and how you can give to help others. Whether it’s volunteering or making a donation, you can help make life better for those families who struggle.

I invite you to join NBT as we work to move people forward. In this season of believing, what could be better than giving our neighbors the belief that their tomorrows can all be brighter?!
