Great.com Interviews NBT About Supporting the Immigrant Communities of New Brunswick

Karim Bukhadurov from Great.com interviewed NBT as part of their 'Great.com Talks With...' podcast. This series is an antidote to negative news stories that aims to shed light on organizations and experts whose work is making a positive impact on the world. It’s no secret that the hospitality sector was devastated by the coronavirus pandemic. But some communities have been hit much harder by the economic downturn than others. Our President, Jaymie Santiago, discussed how NBT lends a helping hand to the residents of New Brunswick, a vibrant and multicultural city in New Jersey.

NBT strives to improve the quality of life for every community in New Brunswick. Support covers a wide range of issues, from jobs and housing to health and wellbeing. The organization is focused around partnerships, encouraging residents to speak up about what matters most. Local citizens have set up their own initiatives under several different banners, including education, food security, employment and access to healthcare.

Jaymie explained that New Brunswick has a rich and diverse history linked to its burgeoning immigrant population. But for 80 percent of immigrant families, the coronavirus pandemic has spelled a loss of income or termination of employment. That’s why NBT is providing vital financial assistance to its immigrant population, helping residents get back on their feet as quickly as possible.

Listen to the whole interview to find out how NBT’s support is bringing New Brunswick communities together. NBT also welcomes donations to help revitalize the city and its communities.
