Rev. Vicente Martinez, Chair

Heldrich Hospitality Initiative

To help city residents in the numerous employment opportunities offered by the new Heldrich Plaza, NBT collaborated with the New Brunswick Public Schools Adult Learning Center with generous support from Bank of America. It was part of the Heldrich Local Hiring Initiative, a coordinated effort among New Brunswick Development Corporation (DevCo), the City, the One-Stop Center of Middlesex County’s Workforce Investment Board and Benchmark Hospitality International. Over 500 applicants visited the One-Stop Center and the Adult Learning Center conducted follow-up interviews to recruit local residents.

Boaz Community Corporation’s lmmigration Counseling and Education Program

NBT provided a third year of support for Boaz’s program, which offers counseling, education and a resource center for immigrants. In the fi rst six months of 2006 alone, Boaz assisted 240 clients in free weekly clinics.

Central Jersey Job Developers Association Job Fair

The area’s largest job fair attracted more than 75 employers to screen some 1,000 job seekers. More than one-third of the job seekers in attendance were from New Brunswick and represented the largest group of employment applicants.
