Heldrich Hospitality Initiative
To help city residents in the numerous
employment opportunities offered by the new
Heldrich Plaza, NBT collaborated with the New
Brunswick Public Schools Adult Learning Center
with generous support from Bank of America. It
was part of the Heldrich Local Hiring
Initiative, a coordinated effort among New
Brunswick Development Corporation (DevCo), the
City, the One-Stop Center of Middlesex County’s
Workforce Investment Board and Benchmark
Hospitality International. Over 500 applicants
visited the One-Stop Center and the Adult
Learning Center conducted follow-up interviews
to recruit local residents.
Boaz Community Corporation’s lmmigration Counseling and Education Program
NBT provided a third year of support for Boaz’s
program, which offers counseling, education and
a resource center for immigrants. In the fi rst
six months of 2006 alone, Boaz assisted 240
clients in free weekly clinics.
Central Jersey Job Developers Association Job Fair
The area’s largest job fair attracted more than
75 employers to screen some 1,000 job seekers.
More than one-third of the job seekers in
attendance were from New Brunswick and
represented the largest group of employment
applicants. |
